When Mr. Carter first came to VOA Illinois, he was experiencing homelessness and was able to move into Hope Manor I after struggling for an extended period to find stable housing. Initially hesitant to engage in services, Mr. Carter gradually opened up as our team built rapport, trust, and mutual respect through consistent support and meaningful conversation. Over time, he began attending groups, participating in housing fairs, and working closely with his SSVF case worker, even offering thoughtful suggestions to help strengthen connections between staff and fellow clients. His growth over the past few months has been remarkable—a complete turnaround that reflects the power of meeting Veterans where they are. Recently, Mr. Carter reached a major milestone by obtaining a housing voucher, giving him the opportunity to secure permanent housing and begin the next chapter of his life. Stories like Mr. Carter’s are made possible because of supporters like you. Thank you for helping us ensure that Veterans are never alone on their path to home.

This month, we had the pleasure of partnering once again with Motion Source to film our annual video, which will premiere for the first time at this year’s Leadership Celebration. These filming days are always a highlight, offering a fresh perspective on our properties and our work, and giving us the opportunity to connect with the people we serve and hear their stories in powerful, new ways.

This month, Impact 4 Good generously donated 700 wellness kits to the people we serve. Each kit was thoughtfully filled with essential items like deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and more. Donations like these play a vital role in supporting our community by providing access to everyday necessities that not everyone has. Thank you to Impact 4 Good for helping ensure the people we serve feel cared for, supported, and know that they are not alone. |

Over the past few months, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming Alayna as a weekly volunteer at our main office. Alayna is an honors student at UIC studying Political Science and Psychology, and she has been an incredible asset to our team. From connecting with donors to organizing our donation closet, she has truly done it all. Her dedication and enthusiasm for the mission of VOA Illinois are inspiring, and we are so grateful to have her as part of our community. |
