As we welcome October and the changing season, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible generosity, energy, and community spirit that made this summer so memorable.
Across Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk, Hamilton, and Halton, supporters came together to make a difference through events including the Memories in an Hourglass Golf Tournament in Cayuga, the Forget Me Not Golf Tournament and Community Golf Day in Simcoe, the Alzheimer Society Golf Tournament in Ancaster, the David Hearn Foundation Charity Classic and the Brant Joint Juke Shuffle in Brantford, and Pickleball with Purpose in Hamilton. Whether you attended, volunteered, sponsored, donated, or helped organize, your support made these events a success and helped ensure people living with dementia and their care partners can access vital programs and services.
Fundraising events like these do more than bring people together. They help ensure that local people living with dementia, care partners, and families can continue to access vital programs like support groups and wellness activities when they need it most.
To everyone who gave their time, talents, and resources this summer, thank you. Your commitment is helping us create a more dementia-friendly community and ensuring no one has to face dementia alone. With gratitude, |

| Aging & Driving with the Elder Law Project
Most people are aware that once someone reaches age 80, they must complete tests to renew their driver’s license that are not required for younger people. However, many people do not realize that the driver licensing system treats people age 70 and older differently than younger people if they experience an accident.
Learn about the rules for drivers age 70 and older and other aspects of the driver licensing system in Ontario that are not well known at this interactive information session with elder law lawyer Angela Yenssen. Date: Wednesday, October 28

Discover a gentle, in-depth approach to self-care and personal growth called the Life Process Transformation Program (LPT). By connecting to your own inner wisdom, this process supports bereaved caregivers or parents to improve their overall sense of wellness, purpose, and resilience as they transition to a new stage of grief, healing, and living without their loved one.
Receive help exploring how to: |
- Quiet your mind and find inner peace
- Reconnect with yourself after the loss of your loved one
- Honour and process difficult emotions associated with grief
-
Let go of unhealthy patterns that prevent your self-care
- Manage stress and the loss of the bereaved caregivers and parents role more effectively
- Listen to your intuition and trust yourself to make decisions after loss
- Find acceptance in the present, rather than dwell in the past or worry about the future
