As we turn the page to August, we hope you are finding time to enjoy all the beauty that summer has to offer. Whether it's sharing a coffee with a friend, gathering with family at the cottage, exploring the outdoors, or simply enjoying a quiet moment in the sunshine, this season reminds us of the importance of making memories and cherishing time with the people we love.
While we soak up these final weeks of summer, we're also preparing for an exciting and very busy September! The month ahead will bring many opportunities to connect, learn, support, and celebrate. We'll be marking World Alzheimer's Day, expanding our participation in McDonald's Coffee Day across all of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville, launching Gala ticket sales on September 7th, and kicking off our Bean There, Gave That campaign. We'll also be welcoming bookings for our popular Trip to Remember to the Friench Riviera and hosting the Senior Life and Leisure Show in Brockville, and celebrating the launch of our Heartsong program in Smiths Falls and Montague. If you're in the Gananoque area - don't miss our annual Toll Road happening on September 19th.
September will also mark the exciting grand finale of our Dementia Friendly Community Summer Challenge, where communities have come together to build awareness, understanding, and inclusion for those living with dementia and their care partners.
As we look ahead to a season filled with meaningful events and opportunities, we encourage you to make the most of August. Spend time with loved ones, create lasting memories, and take in the sunshine and warmth that summer brings. Thank you for being part of our journey to support individuals and families affected by dementia across our communities. Wishing you a wonderful August, and we look forward to seeing you in September! ☀️💙 The Alzheimer Society LLG Team |

This October, Home Hospice North Lanark (HHNL) is inviting individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations to take part in Hike for Hospice 2026—a month-long fundraising event supporting compassionate hospice care for local families facing life-limiting illness.
When someone receives a life-limiting diagnosis, the impact extends beyond the individual to family members and caregivers. HHNL helps people remain at home, surrounded by comfort, dignity, and loved ones, by providing free hospice support, caregiver assistance, companionship, and grief and bereavement programs. These services are available throughout Almonte, Carleton Place, Appleton, Clayton, Beckwith, Blakeney, Pakenham, and surrounding communities.
Hike for Hospice is an opportunity for the community to come together, raise awareness, and help ensure these essential services remain available to everyone who needs them. There are several ways to get involved:
