Thank you to the members who joined the Colorado Medical Society and the Denver Medical Society for Women in Medicine Night at Denver Summit FC on Sunday, July 12. Despite the summer heat, our group stayed cool in the shade of the canopy area and enjoyed a great evening of conversation, community, and soccer. While the Summit battled Houston Dash to a 2-2 draw, the real win was the opportunity to connect with colleagues and celebrate women in medicine. Thanks to all who attended and helped make the event a success, and make plans to join the next event in your area!

The Colorado Medical Society, with the American Medical Association and other state medical associations, continues to press forward in the federal antitrust lawsuit against MultiPlan and major health insurers, alleging they colluded to suppress out-of-network reimbursement rates. In June, the court rejected defendants’ attempt to add an “unclean hands” defense and approved the addition of new alleged co-conspirators to the case. Discovery and trial preparations remain underway, and physicians who believe they have been affected by MultiPlan’s practices can still pursue claims. Ballots for the 2026 CMS leadership election will be emailed to all members on Aug. 1, and voting will remain open through the end of August. This year's ballot includes one candidate for CMS president-elect and seven candidates seeking six positions on the Colorado Delegation to the American Medical Association (AMA). Boulder Community Health joins a growing list of Colorado hospitals in being named a Wellbeing First Champion by ALL IN: Wellbeing First for Healthcare. As a Wellbeing First Champion, BCH has verified that its credentialing applications are free from intrusive, stigmatizing mental health questions. This means that physicians and other clinical staff at Boulder Community Health can seek mental health care or treatment for substance use without fear of negative effects on their license or career.

The Colorado Medical Society, working with the American Medical Association, already made gains in this area through the strong support of House Bill 25-1176, which passed the Colorado legislature in 2025, and removes stigmatizing language from licensing applications.

Join fellow physicians for an engaging discussion on the intersection of psychedelics and medicine in Colorado. This Psychedelics Primer Workshop will explore the evolving landscape of psychedelic therapies, clinical considerations, and what physicians need to know as these treatments become more prominent in health care. In-person 5K: Saturday, Aug. 8

Join the University of Colorado School of Medicine chapter of Sarcoma Strong for its inaugural Sarcoma Strong 5K on Aug. 8 at Sloan’s Lake Park in Denver. The event will bring together members of the medical and research communities, sarcoma survivors and their families, and supporters from across the community to raise awareness for sarcoma and support ongoing research and advocacy efforts.

Registration is $30, with free registration available for those experiencing financial hardship, and all are welcome to participate. The local event is part of the larger Sarcoma Strong initiative dedicated to increasing awareness and funding for sarcoma research. Come run, walk, and help make a difference.
