Know a physician who volunteers and gives back to the community? Nominate them for the Copic Humanitarian Award |
The Copic Humanitarian Award has honored over 50 volunteer physicians across seven states. Every day in health care, there are moments where physicians are truly making a difference. From dedicating time to underserved patients to playing a role in filling the gaps in rural health care, there are thousands of stories that demonstrate how one person can change the lives of many.
Copic recognizes these physicians and gives back to their local communities through the annual Copic Humanitarian Award. We specifically look to recognize those individuals who unassumingly volunteer outside the spectrum of their day-to-day lives. The recipient of the award designates a $10,000 donation from Copic to be provided to a health care-related 501(c)(3) organization within Colorado.
If you know a worthy candidate, please nominate them for this award by going to www.copic.com/humanitarian-award. Nominations for the Colorado award are open until Aug. 15, 2026. |

On‑demand webinars offer guidance on compensation and contracts for physicians |
Physicians navigating employment offers or contract renewal discussions have new on‑demand resources available through the Colorado Medical Society’s partner network.
Panacea Financial has released three recorded webinars tailored to internal medicine, family medicine physicians and physicians in general (not specialty specific), focusing on compensation trends and contract negotiation considerations. The sessions are led by Jillian Vestal, head of Panacea Legal, and are designed to provide practical, specialty‑specific insights for physicians evaluating new opportunities or renegotiating existing agreements. The webinars review key contract terms, common pitfalls, and strategies physicians can use to better understand compensation structures and advocate for themselves during negotiations. Topics include market trends, productivity models, and provisions that can have long‑term professional and financial implications.
As part of CMS membership, physicians have access to educational content like this through trusted partners—resources intended to support informed career decision‑making and financial wellbeing. Both recordings are available on demand after registration. Members are encouraged to explore and share these resources within their practice teams.

Interested in federal advocacy? You don’t have to travel far; make an impact where it matters most — at home |
Join the American Medical Association (AMA) for a CME‑eligible webinar on May 20, 6 p.m. MT to learn how in‑district engagement with members of Congress and their staff can shape policy in meaningful ways. While visits to Washington, D.C., are valuable, the most effective advocacy often happens locally—where relationships are easier to build and sustain. This session will highlight why engaging close to home can be just as powerful and how it helps physicians influence decisions that impact patient care and practice.
You’ll also gain practical tips for making the most of key advocacy windows, including the summer months when lawmakers spend more time in their districts. Learn how to identify opportunities, request meetings, and communicate effectively with policymakers. Whether you’re new to advocacy or looking to deepen your involvement, this webinar will equip you with actionable strategies to make your voice heard. |
