MultiPlan litigation update |
Plus, last chance to register for tomorrow's live webinar: Thursday, April 16, 6:30-7:30 p.m. |
The Colorado Medical Society is a plaintiff in the In re MultiPlan Health Insurance Provider Litigation, a federal antitrust case alleging that MultiPlan and major health insurers colluded to suppress out-of-network reimbursement rates paid to physicians and other providers. The case is now in active discovery. At the Feb. 27 case management conference, the Court cleared the way for depositions of MultiPlan representatives and required the company to produce key internal records.
Co-lead counsel Matt Lavin has joined Gilbert LLC and will continue leading the case in his new role. This change does not affect the case, our organization's participation in any way, or your case if you have joined the litigation. Physicians who believe they've been impacted by MultiPlan's practices are encouraged to reach out to an attorney.
Learn more about this case and what your practice may be owed at our live webinar for CMS members on Thursday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. The confidential session includes live Q&A and guidance on evaluating your practice’s options. |

Urge your U.S. Representative to support The Provider Reimbursement Stability Act |
Legislation recently introduced in Congress -- the Provider Reimbursement Stability Act or H.R. 8163 -- takes a major step in modernizing Medicare physician payment. Introduced by Rep. Greg Murphy, M.D. (R-NC) and Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY), the bipartisan bill modernizes key budget neutrality rules, ensuring fairness and predictability for medical practices and stability for physicians and patients.
According to the American Medical Association, when adjusted for inflation, Medicare reimbursement for physician services has declined 33% from 2001 to 2026. Without capping these damaging cuts to physician Medicare reimbursement and other key reforms, doctors are unable to sustainably run their medical practices and are driven to retire or work for consolidated health systems, private equity, or insurance companies – decreasing access for rural and underserved communities.
H.R. 8163 promotes reimbursement stability and protects physicians by: 1) updating the budget neutrality threshold, 2) mandating that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (federal CMS) evaluate the actual base costs for running a medical practice at least every five years, and 3) revising how the federal CMS addresses incorrect billing codes.
Make your voice heard: Contact your member of Congress and urge them to support commonsense Medicare payment reforms by cosponsoring this bipartisan bill. |

Three Ways to Take the Stress Out of Your Finances |
Between long shifts and countless patients, managing finances may fall to the bottom of your list, leaving you uncertain about where things actually stand. Here are three tips to help you manage your money without adding to your workload: |
-
Turn on account notifications. Texts or alerts about transactions can help you better understand what’s coming in and going out.
- Get a budgeting tool. Automated tools can connect directly to your accounts to track, categorize, and analyze spending in real-time, reducing time needed for manual entry.
-
Use PRN Personal Loans for big expenses. If large or unexpected expenses arise, personal loans can be a better option than high-interest-rate credit cards.

Panacea Financial’s PRN Personal Loan was designed for doctors with no cosigner requirements, quick funding, and reduced payments while in training. CMS members qualify for interest rate discounts. Get Started In Under 10 Minutes » |
