Dear Parents,
Thank you for signing your child up for the Kids, Inc. Learn to Play Tennis Program partnership with the Alex O'Brien Tennis Foundation! We’re excited to have your family join us—it’s going to be a great season of learning, movement, and plenty of fun on the courts!
To help you and your child get ready to serve up a great experience, please review the following important details:
Program Dates and Times:
Sessions will be held on April 11, April 18, April 25, and May 2 at the Amarillo National Tennis Center, located at John Stiff Memorial Park.
Schedule:
Kindergarten & 1st Grade: 9:00–10:00 AM
2nd & 3rd Grade: 10:15–11:15 AM
4th–6th Grade: 11:30 AM–12:30 PM
Important Notes:
This program does not have a designated coach. Sessions are led by high school tennis teams who volunteer their time each week. Your child will get to learn from different players throughout the program, so expect a fresh perspective each session!
T-Shirt Sizes:
Please log in to your player profile and update your child’s t-shirt size as soon as possible so we can get everyone geared up.
Payment Deadline: All payments must be made by Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 12:00 PM. Please note that no payments will be accepted on-site.
On the first day, please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early so your child can check in, pick up their shirt and racket, and get assigned to their court—so they’re ready for the first serve!
Parking & Traffic Flow:
Parking is available at the Amarillo National Tennis Center, with additional parking located on the south side of the building.
To help keep things moving smoothly, we ask all parents to exit by turning right onto Bell Street. This helps avoid a traffic jam and keeps everyone on track—thank you for your teamwork!
Weather Updates:
All weather-related announcements will be posted on Kids, Inc. social media platforms. Be sure to check regularly so you don’t miss a beat!
Outdoor Play:
We’ll be playing outdoors—wind or chill won’t stop the rally! We will only move indoors if it is actively raining or snowing.
Proper Attire:
Dress your player for the conditions: layers are a great game plan! All participants must wear closed-toe athletic shoes so they’re ready to move.
What to Bring:
A water bottle is a must-have for staying hydrated and energized during play.
We can’t wait to see your child on the court and watch them build skills, confidence, and a love for the game. It’s going to be a great season!
Gratefully,
The Kids, Inc. Team and Rene’e Stovall, PhD, Executive Director, Alex O’Brien Tennis Foundation
