We turned 130 on March 9th… and somehow, we’ve never looked better!
For 130 years, VOA has been showing up through changing times, shifting needs, and more plot twists than we can count. Through it all, one thing has remained steady: people showing up for people. That’s the story. That’s the heartbeat.
Resilience isn’t just something we talk about. It’s something we’ve lived, alongside the communities we serve and the supporters who have stood with us year after year. Through every challenge, every moment of uncertainty, and every new beginning, you’ve been part of what keeps this work moving forward. This birthday feels less like blowing out candles and more like taking a moment to look around and say, “Wow…look what we’ve built together!” To everyone who has given, volunteered, advocated, and believed in this mission across generations, THANK YOU! You are part of a legacy that continues to grow, adapt, and reach further every single year. 130 years in, and we’re just getting started! |

Tiny toes, big news for Alexandria's House |
|
|
There’s a new kind of energy filling the halls at Cannon Hall these days…and it comes with the sweetest soundtrack.
As Alexandria’s House undergoes some much-needed renovations, the incredible young moms and their babies have temporarily settled into the independent living dorms at Cannon Hall. And let’s just say, things got a whole lot livelier in the best possible way.
You can smell home-cooked meals drifting down the hallway, hear little giggles and tiny footsteps, and feel the quiet, powerful rhythm of young families building something new together. It’s the kind of joy you don’t plan for, but instantly recognize when it shows up.
This transition is just one chapter in a bigger story. When renovations at Alexandria’s House are complete, the space will expand from five rooms to six, creating room for even more young mothers and their children to find stability, support, and a place to grow. For now, we’re soaking in this season. It’s a beautiful reminder that home isn’t just a place, it’s a feeling. And right now, that feeling is alive and well at Cannon Hall. To our new residents, welcome. We’re so glad you’re here! |

Mardi Bras showed up in full force this year!
To everyone who volunteered, hosted a party, set up a donation bin, rallied your friends, or swung by drop-off day with arms full of support…thank you! You turned something simple into something powerful. Because of you, women in our programs will receive not just essentials, but a reminder that they are seen, valued, and cared for.
This campaign works year after year for one reason. Our community shows up big for people who need it most. And you did exactly that! Counting is almost complete as a few final donations trickle in, so the grand total is on its way. Stay tuned to Volunteers of America Eastern Washington or Spokane Mardi Bras social media for the big reveal and who won the award for the most donated items this year. Until then, just know this. What you gave matters more than you may ever fully see. And yes, you officially win the award for most impactful (and possibly most fun) way to support your community. Thank you for making Mardi Bras feel like a celebration of generosity in every sense of the word! |

✨NEW ADDRESS REMINDER ✨
As you know, we’ve officially moved! But. . . turns out not all of our mail got the same memo. If you’ve had something returned recently, you’re not alone. Some of our mail has gone on a trip back to your front door instead of being forwarded to us. We’re working on it and appreciate your patience while the USPS system catches up!
Thanks for sticking with us during this transition. Here’s our new address in case you need to resend us your well wishes! If you are sending donations directly through your financial institution, please remember to share with them as well. You all are the best! 1440 N Haven St Ste.3 Spokane, WA 99202 |
