This month gave us so many reasons to smile, and even more reasons to be grateful for you. Take a look at the joyful moments, meaningful milestones, and community magic you helped make possible.

As we celebrate 130 years of service, we recognize that we would not be able to continue making a difference without our dedicated supporters. The Community of Hope is a group of givers who are committed to joining us on the frontlines to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. By joining the Community of Hope, you not only allow us to have the ability to plan our initiatives better and to confirm that each project we undertake is sustainable, but you also create a pool of dependable resources so that we can extend much-needed services unhesitatingly across our community.

Your support allows us to serve people like Jack. Jack is a 58-year-old Army Veteran who spent many years as a resident of Hope Manor II, where he lived with his emotional support dog, Scout. With the guidance of our Program Services team, Jack created a plan to save money and successfully navigate the home‑buying process. Through persistence and determination, he achieved his long‑time dream of purchasing a home where he could settle down with Scout. Jack’s accomplishments didn’t stop there. While living at Hope Manor II, he also pursued his education in the medical field, completing medical school and earning his Master of Science in Nursing. His hard work led him to a successful career, and after leaving the program, staff were thrilled to learn that Jack is now serving as a Director of Nurses. Jack’s journey reflects resilience, growth, and the lasting impact of supportive housing services.

This month, VOA Illinois celebrated 130 years of serving those who need it most, when they need it most. In honor of this incredible milestone, staff hosted birthday parties across our properties. These celebrations gave everyone a chance to connect, honor our past, and acknowledge our shared goals as we look ahead into the future.

For the 4th year, Spelman College Alumnae came to Hope Manor II/Hope Manor Village to host another wonderful Easter Egg Hunt for the families that live at these properties. This year's Easter Egg Hunt had two face painters, delicious treats for the children, the Easter bunny, and of course, hundreds of eggs for the kids to find. Thank you so much to this incredible group for continuing to support VOA Illinois and for being so dedicated to creating memorable experiences for those we serve.

This month, Team Depot, The Home Depot's associate volunteer force, came to Hope Manor I and worked hard to make the office spaces of the building more welcoming. It is always a pleasure to work with The Home Depot Foundation, but especially this month as we celebrate our 130th anniversary. It is an honor to include The Home Depot Foundation, whom we have a long-standing partnership with as an organization. Thank you to The Home Depot Foundation for supporting us throughout the years and thank you to this group for working hard to make Hope Manor I even better for the Veterans that live there.  

Thank you so much for your support of VOA Illinois! We would not be able to provide essential services to those who need it most, when they need it most, if it was not for supporters like yourself!
