A few of you have asked David Hughes about resources for understanding Theosis. Here are David’s recommendations:

Bob Mulholland uses Michael Gorman’s Inhabiting the Cruciform God: Kenosis, Justification, and Theosis —this book is in our recommended reading list. Other resources used by Mulholland include Thomas Merton’s Contemplation in a World of Action; Merton’s “The Inner Experience: Christian Contemplation,” Cistercian Studies Quarterly Review; Merton’s Thoughts in Solitude. He also draws from Greek Orthodox sources including Archbishop Demetrios, “Voices from the Past Addressing Our Present,” Harvard Divinity Bulletin, and Kalistos Ware, “The Eastern Tradition from the Tenth to the Twentieth Century,” The Study of Spirituality.

David also recommends Catholic Social Teaching as a rich resource for what Bob Mulholland called “corporate spirituality”. This article by Scot McKnight is an example of such a teaching ("Reality is Found in the Scrum").

New Date: TC20#8 Follow-Up Call March 24

Our retreat #8 follow-up call has been moved to Tuesday, March 24 from 12-1:30 pm CDT so that more of our teachers and presenters can be available. Please RSVP to the office by Friday, March 20.

If you'd like to ask a question or share something you've been wrestling with from the retreat, please email the TC office before the meeting and share your question and the presenter you'd like to respond during the meeting.

Reflection Papers
If you are working toward a certificate, please use this quarter to get caught up on any reflection papers that you haven't yet submitted. This will make things smoother for you and your reader as we are coming closer to the end of the process. If you have any questions, please send an email to the record keeper. Prior to retreat 9, we will remind you of all the requirements for the certificate and share the deadline for submitting everything. If you have any concerns or experience a challenge meeting the deadlines, please send a note to Tina. We want this process to be life-giving to you and support your TC journey!
