It may be fall according to the calendar, but at Foster Together, we’re feeling more like kids on Christmas morning—because we just hit a huge milestone: over 6,000 children served since 2018!

What started as a small group of moms hoping to teach their kids the joy of serving has grown into something truly extraordinary. The impact we’ve made together is humbling—and it’s all thanks to you.

To our selfless volunteers who sort, organize, pack, and help families shop; our tireless board members who bring energy, expertise, and endless ideas to elevate; and our generous donors who give sacrificially to meet the needs of St. Louis area children in foster care—you are the reason we can help children when they need it most.

No matter your role in our big foster community, know this: we are better, stronger, and more impactful because we Foster Together.

We’re excited to spotlight Michelle Hennessy, Treasurer of the Foster Together Board of Directors! Serving on our Finance Committee, Michelle brings a wealth of nonprofit finance experience and a heart for service to our mission.

In her role as Director of Finance at Mid-America Transplant, Michelle has devoted her career to the nonprofit world—from social services to healthcare—helping organizations grow and thrive with strong financial foundations. With an MBA and years of hands-on experience, she’s eager to use her skills to help Foster Together reach even more families.

Michelle first learned about Foster Together through fellow board member Tyler Mazdra. As a former foster parent herself, she deeply understands the joys and challenges that come with fostering and is passionate about making sure families feel supported every step of the way.

Outside of work, Michelle recently embarked on one of life’s biggest adventures—welcoming a baby boy in February 2025! We’re thrilled to have her as part of the Foster Together family and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make.
