We’re Back!

You might have noticed there was no newsletter last month. Between Eye Contact and our big building move, things were buzzing at VOA! But we’re back, settled in, and excited to fill you in on everything that’s been happening.

If you were able to attend Eye Contact, you know what a joyful night it was. The wine pull was a crowd favorite again - 100 bottles disappeared in no time! Some lucky guests went home with truly incredible wines (that’s the fun, it’s a little gamble, but $20 can land you a real showstopper).

Guests enjoyed a delicious menu catered by Hogwash/IPK, watched three artists create live, and admired the amazing artwork lovingly constructed by our participants around this year’s theme, Sacred Shapes. The energy was creative, heartfelt, and full of community.

We were honored to recognize Robert Johnson with the Ken Jernberg Award for his longtime dedication to supporting our youth and showing up for those in need, and Barb Borgens with the Sister Loretta Marie Award for her unwavering advocacy and compassion for our most vulnerable neighbors. We’re deeply grateful for all they’ve done and continue to do for VOA and our community.

While we didn’t quite reach our fundraising goal this year, the evening was a tremendous success in every other way. We can’t thank you enough for being part of it, for cheering us on, and for helping make it all possible.

As you know, we’ve officially moved! But. . . turns out not all of our mail got the same memo. If you’ve had something returned recently, you’re not alone. Some of our mail has gone on a trip back to your front door instead of being forwarded to us. We’re working on it and appreciate your patience while the USPS system catches up!

Our ribbon cutting ceremony was an unforgettable celebration! Nearly 200 people joined us for an exciting and emotional day. Tours were given, stories were shared, tears of joy were shed, and of course there was cake!

Construction on Vets on Lacey is moving right along, and right on schedule! We’re thrilled to share that the project is set to open this December. Every beam placed and wall raised brings us closer to opening doors for veterans who deserve stability, dignity, and a place to call home. Before we know it, we’ll be cutting another ribbon and celebrating a brand-new home for veterans and their families in our community!

When the Providence team shows up, good things happen! At YAS, that meant ice cream, sprinkles, and a whole lot of smiles. An Ice Cream Social is exactly what everyone needs on a hot summer day!

We are so grateful for your partnership (and your excellent sundae skills!) Thank you, Providence team! 

We were honored to welcome the Eastside Gladiators for a tour of our new building! This incredible group not only held a peaceful rally in support of Crosswalk, but they also came carrying armloads of delicious treats for our youth and staff. 

Their kindness and encouragement mean the world as we settle into this new space. Thank you, Gladiators, for standing with us and showing what true community support looks like!
