A Message From Terry Burn And just like that…. summer is over! Where did the time go? Every day life seems to be going by at a faster pace with each passing year. The same thing is happening in the financial industry. Technology, specifically A.I. (Artificial Intelligence), is quickly changing the way people will conduct financial transactions in the future. These upcoming changes present a unique challenge for Northwoods Credit Union. How do we continue to live by our SPICE Values (Servant mentality, Progressive thinking, Integrity, Compassion, and Empathy) while offering new products that will offer convenience, faster speeds, and state-of-the-art technology? It’s a very delicate balance.
I feel what sets Northwoods CU apart from most other financial institutions is that we put a premium on our brand of personal service for our members. The members we serve in rural Minnesota cherish personal connections and a financial institution that participates in their local community. Sacrificing those personal connections for efficiency is not our culture and therefore is not an option for us. It’s not necessarily efficient, nor is it cheap to operate a credit union like we do, but we feel our SPICE values are imperative to our success and your satisfaction as a member of Northwoods Credit Union.
The next generation of credit union members is coming. They want 24-hour mobile access, instant loan approvals, instant payments, peer-to-peer payments, interactive credit score monitoring, and many other digital capabilities.
Over the coming months, you will see several enhancements to the products we currently offer, as well as new products being implemented in an effort to give you access to the new generation of financial products and services. However, we will always be committed to being the friendly, local financial institution willing to take the time to make a connection with you and live up to our mission of “building life-long relationships, one member at a time.” Now, on to Fall. Paper Statement Fee In Effect Today |
You might have noticed our messages these last couple of weeks regarding our new paper statement fee. As of today, October 1, 2025, these fees will be in effect.
E-statements offer our membership numerous modern benefits compared to paper fees, and we take your account and information security seriously. We also want to deliver to all members the most modern and convenient banking features available.

We have teamed up with TruLync Medicare to create a better experience for members as they approach this milestone. There is no charge for their service, and they represent multiple insurance companies, providing you with access to options that are in your best interest. Mark your calendars!
