To keep you informed on important legislative and regulatory issues impacting our industry, ASB is partnered with the American Bakers Association to bring you timely updates. FDA Issues Phase II of Sodium Reduction Targets
The FDA released its Phase II sodium reduction targets, setting new three-year targets for 163 food categories, including baked goods that are commercially processed and packaged or prepared in food service establishments (e.g. restaurants). Phase II builds off Phase I targets issued in 2021, and the new targets are approximately 20% lower than consumer intake levels prior to 2021. The agency is still taking public comment on these targets through January 13th.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT Wendi Ebbing VP of Marketing | Bundy Baking Solutions |
|
|
This month we celebrate Wendi Ebbing, Vice President of Marketing for Bundy Baking Solutions. She has served on various ASB committees, a term on the ASB board, and one year as 2nd Vice Chair, over her many years of involvement with ASB. She is currently serving on the Bakery Equipment Manufacturers Board of Directors.
In 2015, she was the BakingTECH Programming Chair for then Board-chair Anthony Turano, which generated tremendous success and introduced then-revolutionary ideas to the 90-year old event. In addition to her program chair responsibilities, she served on the 2011 and 2023 BakingTECH planning teams. She’s been a regular speaker and contributor to the technical content over the years too.
The support for the baking industry runs deep with majority of her career spent between The Peerless Group (1998-2006) and Bundy Baking Solutions (2008-current) in marketing roles. She is known for pulling disparate groups of individuals together at industry events and making introductions for greater connectedness in the baking community. And while her marketing role naturally aligns with this type of activity, it is the thoughtfulness and care in which she does it.
The recent Regional Meetings at the Bundy Baking Solutions Headquarters is a prime example of her above-and-beyond ASB volunteerism. She spends hours helping coordinate the event logistics to welcome the industry at-large to experience the Museum and Baking Hall of Fame. She kindly curates items to bring to BakingTECH to showcase baking artifacts from the Bundy Baking Museum arranging for transportation to and from the annual event. She serves as ASB's go-to person for the Hall of Fame installation at the Museum too.
Hats off to you, Wendi, for exhibiting dedication and loyalty to this awesome industry! We are stronger because of what you contribute every day in your service to this industry. |
